How to Use Zen Stone Balance

This is a physics-based stone stacking game where you drag and place stones to build the tallest tower you can. Click "Begin" to start, then use your mouse or finger to grab stones and position them carefully. Each stone has its own weight and shape, so finding the right balance point takes attention and experimentation.

Your current height is measured in centimeters and displayed at the top. The game tracks your best height across sessions, so you can try to beat your own record. Use "New Stone" to add another piece to your tower, "Reset" to clear everything and start fresh, or "Snapshot" to save an image of your creation.

There's no timer, no score penalty, no wrong moves—just you, gravity, and a pile of stones. Some towers last seconds before tumbling. Others find an unexpected balance and hold. Try different placements, watch how the stones settle, and see what structures emerge from your experimentation.

Why I Built This

I created this after becoming frustrated with fast-paced games that demanded constant attention and quick reactions. I wanted something that moved at a different speed—something where you could take your time, where careful placement mattered more than reflexes. A game that felt more like arranging objects on a desk than racing against a clock.

Most stacking games I found were either too arcade-like with perfect physics or too punishing with instant fail states. I wanted the satisfaction of real physics—watching stones actually settle and shift—combined with the freedom to experiment without pressure. So I built this simple space where you can stack stones, watch them fall, and try again without judgment.

It's not a puzzle with a solution. It's not a test of skill. It's just a playful physics sandbox where you place stones and see what happens. A quiet creative space for those moments when you want to build something temporary and watch it exist for a while.

Tips for the Best Experience

  • Start slow: Place your first few stones carefully to build a stable foundation
  • Find the center: Each stone balances best when its weight is evenly distributed
  • Let stones settle: Wait a moment after placing each one to see if it's stable
  • Experiment with angles: Sometimes a slight tilt creates a better resting point
  • Falling is part of the process: Every collapse teaches you something about balance
  • No pressure: If your tower falls immediately, that's okay—try a different approach next time
